Main duties of the job

We are a fully computerised practice using EMIS Web clinical system and Docman10. It is essential that applicants are IT literate. Responsibilities would include: Cytology, Venepuncture, Vaccinations and Immunisation (adult and child), travel, wound care, Infection control, Sexual health and family planning, Near Patient Testing (INR) and Care for the elderly and Ear Care as well as other PN responsibilities.

We are a forward thinking GMS practice and an active and prominent member of our primary care network.  We look after just under 15,000 patients.  We are a training practice, rated CQC Good & high QOF achieving.  We are a GP Partnership who care for our patients and aim to provide them with excellent quality of care. 

 

We are a well-organised practice with an excellent team ethos.  We have 5 GP Partners and 8 salaried GPs, 2 ACPs, 2 NPs, 3 PNs, 3 HCAs and 2 Phlebotomists as well as an in-house clinical pharmacy and pharmacy technician.

 

Job summary:

The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to our patients.

 

Job responsibilities:

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs to include:

 

Cytology

Contraception

Wound care / ulcer care

Removal of Sutures

New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis

Travel Clinic

ECGs

Ear syringing / support Ear Suction Clinics

Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations

Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician

Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings if required

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Keeping accurate and detailed health records on the EMIS system

A key role in QOF achievement

Clinical audits

Safeguarding concerns

Support and participate in shared learning over the Practice
