Long Term Cardiovascular Conditions Update

Timings: 9.30am - 4pm (registration from 9am)

Who is the study day suitable for?

Suitable for GPs, nurses, pharmacists and those managing long term conditions in the community.

Why should I attend?

Long term conditions are the cause of significant mortality and morbidity in the UK, with cardiovascular diseases remaining the number one cause of death.  This day is designed to give you a detailed overview of how to manage a range of cardiovascular risk factors (including diabetes) using an evidence based approach.  Recommendations from national and international guidelines will be compared and contrasted to give attendees the necessary tools to assess and manage cardiovascular risk and to successfully treat people with established cardiovascular disease.

The day enables you to network with colleagues and counts as 6 hours of CPD using a collaborative learning approach for your revalidation

By attending this day, you will be able to:

  • Recognise how to identify people at risk of cardiovascular disease
  • Reduce risk by supporting lifestyle changes, implementing new ideas and research
  • Evaluate the role of pharmacological therapies in risk reduction
  • Manage established cardiovascular conditions, including coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral arterial disease
  • Reassess the management of type 2 diabetes to reduce microvascular and macrovascular complications
  • Implement strategies aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation
  • Apply new guidance on the diagnosis and management of heart failure.
