Course Summary
2nd February 2022. Lunchtime. 1pm-2:15pm
- To learn about the classification and diagnostic criteria for type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes.
- To learn about the atypical presentations of diabetes and how to investigate possible causes
- To review the concepts of language used in consultations for persons with type 2 diabetes and the awareness of stigma
- To understand why controlling blood sugar and treating type 2 diabetes appropriately is important and the key role of the UKPDS study
- To have an overview of common medications used and to understand the topics to be covered in the remainder of the module
