A practical and clinically focused update session for experienced vaccinators working in general practice. This course is suitable for registered and non-registered clinicians involved in the flu and COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Vaccinators attending this session must have completed their fundamental vaccination training course and have current experience in delivering influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations. This session will provide an overview of the latest UKHSA, Green Book and DHSC guidance for the 2026/27 influenza and COVID-19 vaccination programmes.
Topics will include:
• Current flu and COVID-19 programme updates
• Vaccine eligibility and cohort changes
• Vaccine types, storage and administration considerations
• Co-administration guidance
• Consent, legal frameworks and PSD/PGD/VGD updates
• Managing adverse events and incident reporting
• Key operational considerations for practices during the vaccination season
• Common clinical scenarios and FAQs
The session is designed to support vaccinators to remain safe, confident and up to date ahead of the autumn/winter campaign and will include opportunities for discussion and shared learning.

Learning Outcomes
- Discuss current issues, epidemiology and programme updates relating to seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination.
- Identify eligible cohorts and recommended vaccines for the 2026/27 influenza and autumn COVID-19 vaccination programmes
- Apply current guidance relating to vaccine administration, co-administration, storage, handling and legal frameworks.
- Recognise key contraindications, precautions and adverse reactions associated with influenza and COVID-19 vaccines.
- Describe current competency, supervision, governance and documentation requirements for vaccinators
- Reflect on current practice and share learning through discussion, case examples and question-and-answer activities.
