Detailed Course Description:
The Annual Immunisation Update – Adult & Child Programme (1 Day) is a comprehensive, live virtual training course designed for registered healthcare professionals involved in delivering the UK childhood and adult immunisation programmes. This essential full-day update supports practitioners to maintain confidence, competence, and compliance, ensuring practice remains aligned with the latest national guidance, policy changes, and best practice. Delivered live via Zoom, the course offers an interactive and engaging learning experience, with opportunities for discussion, reflection, scenario based learning and questions throughout the day, enabling participants to apply learning directly to their own clinical practice.
Annual Immunisation Update (1 day):

- The aims of vaccination, national vaccine policy and schedules
- The immune response and how vaccines work
- Vaccine-preventable diseases
- Types of vaccines, their composition, indications and contraindications
- Current issues in vaccination Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines
- Legal frameworks: consent and mechanisms for supply/administration
- Storage, handling and safe management of vaccines
Vaccine Preventable Diseases – UK National Schedule (Adult & Childhood): Diphtheria
- Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
- Hepatitis B
- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
- Measles
- Meningococcal disease (selected serogroups)
- Mumps
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Pneumococcal disease (selected serotypes)

- Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

Please note: whilst this course covers an overview of seasonal vaccines, including COVID-19 and Influenza, it does not replace comprehensive COVID-19 or Influenza training. Up-to-date, programme-specific training should be completed prior to delivering seasonal vaccination services.

Attendance on the live virtual course includes access to the following e-learning module: UK Adult & Child Immunisation Schedule – Online Course. This supports consolidation of learning and provides additional evidence for annual update requirements.
