The Orthopaedic Series – Summer 2024

Common orthopaedic problems in Primary Care: An introductory series for all health care professionals working in Primary Care.

During these 4 interactive sessions, led by Dr Steph Manton, GP Multi-Professional Educator with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Training Hub, and Dr Scott Perkins, GP with a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine, you will be introduced to some of the common presentations, examinations and management of Shoulder, Hip, Knee and Hand/wrist and elbow problems in Primary Care.  

These sessions will be delivered online via The Training Hub’s LMS platform and will be recorded.  

Please note this booking will be for all four sessions:

Session 1 : Monday 22nd July 1-2pm - Shoulder Pain in Primary Care

Session 2 : Monday 29th July 1-2pm - Hip Pain in Primary Care

Session 3 :  Monday 5th August 1-2pm - Knee Pain in Primary Care

Session 4 : Monday 12th August 1-2pm - Hand, wrist and elbow pain in Primary Care

This session is suitable for all Healthcare Clinicians working in Primary Care across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, who may be involved with patients with symptoms in this clinical area. 

This includes, but is not limited to:

GPs, Trainee GPs, Medical students, GP Nurses, GP Nurse students, Advance Care Practitioners, Nurse Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Physician’s Associates, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists.

Delievered by Dr Stephanie Manton with expert in musculoskeletal medicine Dr Scott Perkins.

Dr Scott Perkins BSc MBChB MRCS MRCGP 
attended university in St Andrews and Manchester, before completing surgical training and MRCS in the Manchester area.  With several years of orthopaedic experience, he joined the GP VTS in 2006.  After gaining his MRCGP in 2009 he relocated with his GP wife back to his home county of Worcestershire, where he became a GP Partner at Abbey Medical Practice in Evesham.  He continues his interest in musculoskeletal medicine by running a busy minor surgery and joint injection service.  He is also a Roadmap Supervisor for musculoskeletal First Contact Practitioners.  In his spare time he enjoys partaking in most sports, whether that be on the cricket pitch or the side lines watching his young children.

Dr Steph Manton has been a GP in Worcestershire since 2009.  She currently works part-time in a busy Worcester City practice and spends the other half of her week working as a GP Mentor and as a GP Multi-Professional Educator for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Training Hub.  She has particular interests in Menopause Care, Paediatrics and Medical Education.  She lives in rural Worcestershire with her husband and two children.  In her spare time, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors.
