The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Training Hub are continuing their ‘Focus on Frailty’ lecture series in 2026, aiming to raise awareness and educate around all things Frailty and care of older adults for the whole MDT.

Join us on Wednesday 4th of March 2026, 13.00-14.00
Session 3: ‘Bone health, fragility fractures and Osteoporosis’
Session Overview: In this session we will discuss the effect of ageing and frailty on bone health and lifestyle measure to encourage patients to support healthy bones. We will explore how we screen and treat for Osteoporosis in Primary Care and discuss some of the parenteral treatments available and when to refer patients to secondary care. This session is aimed at clinicians involved in the screening, diagnosis and management of Osteoporosis or seeing patients in the primary care setting.

Session 4: ‘Polypharmacy and Deprescribing in Older Adults’
Session Overview: In this session we will discuss the definition of the term polypharmacy and its risk in older patients and those living with frailty. We will highlight a number of useful deprescribing tools and how to undertake structured medication reviews to optimise the care of patients living with frailty of all stages. This session is aimed at all clinicians involved in medication reviews and prescribing with older adults.

Session 5: ‘Advanced care planning and how to approach ReSPECT discussions’
Session Overview: In this session we will discuss the importance of prioritising advanced care planning in older adults at all stages of frailty and suitable ceilings of treatment. We will share approaches to ReSPECT discussions and tools to support patients and their carers in making these decisions. This session is aimed at any member of the multidisciplinary team (clinical or non-clinical) who may be involved in these discussions or support patients and carers with care planning.
These sessions are facilitated by Charlotte Marley and other members of our expert multidisciplinary training team.
Charlotte is a Senior Physician Associate working clinically in Care of the Elderly teams in Gloucestershire and the Education and Training Lead for the Training Hub. She has a specialist interest in Frailty and is soon to complete a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine with the RCP and British Geriatric Society.
