CPD Accredited Course
Learning Objectives:
- Recognise and understand the importance of National and Local phlebotomy guidance and policy and key legislation pertaining to Phlebotomy
- Understand the relevant Adult anatomy and physiology
- Undertake best practice Adult phlebotomy procedures
- Have an awareness of infection prevention and control procedures
- Identify potential complications associated with phlebotomy and understand how to resolve them
- Recognise the importance of phlebotomy supervision and competency in the workplace
A full day training session, to be delivered face to face combining theory and simulated practical elements, suitable for clinicians required to perform venepuncture procedure as defined by the Skills for Health national operating standards.
The session will conclude with an observed simulation using the phlebotomy models to assess candidate competency and ability to progress to “in practice” supervisor assessments.
The session is facilitated by Charlotte Marley.
Charlotte is a Senior Physician Associate working clinically in Care of the Elderly teams in Gloucestershire and the Education and Training Lead for the Training Hub. She has a specialist interest in Frailty and is soon to complete a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine with the RCP and British Geriatric Society.
