Learning Disability Lunchtime Learning Sessions

 We’re excited to launch our new Learning Disability Lunchtime Learning Sessions.

At the recent Annual Health Check Study Day, many primary care clinicians shared that they find assessing mental capacity challenging—particularly when working with individuals who have a learning disability.

In response, our first session will focus on practical and clinical guidance around capacity assessments. Future sessions will run approximately every two months and cover a range of key topics in learning disability care.

Sessions will be facilitated by:

This session will cover:

• Top tips and practical guidance for effective capacity assessments
• How to explore executive functioning and its impact on decision-making
• A brief overview of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and Deputyship frameworks
• Interactive Q&A – bring your questions and case examples

Although the session focuses on learning disabilities, the content is relevant to all adults where capacity assessment is needed—particularly those living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
