Leg Ulcer Management Update Day – HEREFORDSHIRE PRACTICES ONLY

Please note that this course is only available to colleagues working within Herefordshire General Practice, due to the funding parameters of this session.

This update day is designed for experienced Practice Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers who are already competent in wound care and Doppler assessment and are involved in the management of leg ulcers.

The course will revisit current best practice in line with the Herefordshire Leg Ulcer Treatment Algorithm, covering:

• Red Flag Assessment
• Immediate Care
• Holistic lower limb assessment
• Venous disease and differential diagnosis
• Skin care and infection
• Wound management and Compression therapy

The morning will include theory-based teaching, followed by interactive practical workshops exploring compression bandages, wraps, hosiery and wound care products, with opportunities to share clinical experience and practical tips.

Recommended Pre-course Learning

This course supports the National Wound Care Workforce Framework for England and is designed as an update for experienced practitioners. Delegates are expected to have a sound understanding of wound care principles.

It is strongly recommended that the relevant e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) Tier 1 and Tier 2 wound care modules are completed prior to attendance, as these underpin the required competencies and will not be covered in detail during the course.
