Medication and Diabetes

Course Summary

23rd February 2022. 1pm-2:15pm. Via LMS

  • To learn about the NICE 2015 and ADA/EASD 2018 guidelines on the management of type 2 diabetes

  • Understand the stepwise approach to diabetes management and the dangers of clinical inertia

  • Briefly review how commonly used oral glucose lowering therapies target the pathophysiology of Type 2 Diabetes

  • To be able to describe the mechanism of action of GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT-2 inhibitors

  • To understand the role of the newer oral agents within the algorithms with emphasis on newer cardiovascular outcome data

  • To review the Worcestershire prescribing guidelines link with the national guidance and practical tips
