Men’s Health Series – Autumn 2026
You are invited to join Dr Steph Manton, GP Multi-Professional Educator with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Primary Care Training Hub, for our much-anticipated Men’s Health Series.
This series is designed to equip multi-professional clinicians to assess, risk-stratify and manage common men’s health presentations in primary care.
We will discuss thresholds for referral and urgent action across cardiovascular disease, urology, sexual health, mental health and acute presentations.
The sessions will be interactive with case-based discussion, making use of national and local guidance.
The series will be recorded and available on demand following the live sessions.

These sessions will be taking place online on the Learning Management System (LMS) - to attend, please note you will need to have a registered account.
Session 1 – Monday 7th September - 13:00 - 14:00
The men’s health consultation, “the whole man”: engagement, prevention and multimorbidity
Learning Objectives:
- Be able to structure a men’s health consultation
- Identify hidden physical and mental health risk
- Utilise opportunistic case-finding
- Develop appropriate safety-netting skills for this group of patients
Session 2 – Monday 14th September 13:00 - 14:00
Cardiovascular disease and metabolic health in men
Learning Objectives:
- Assess CVD risk using NICE guidance
- Be able to communicate risk clearly
- Be confident intensifying lifestyle and lipid management
- Recognise erectile dysfunction as a vascular warning sign
Session 3 - Monday 21st September 13:00 - 14:00
Urology in primary care: LUTS, haematuria, PSA and prostate cancer
Learning Objectives:
- Assess lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) systemically
- Know when to request a PSA and/or digital rectal examination (DRE)
- Recognise cancer and retention red flags
- Manage uncomplicated LUTS in primary care
Session 4 – Monday 28th September 13:00 - 14:00
Sexual health and androgen deficiency
Learning Objectives:
- Become confident taking a detailed sexual history
- Assess erectile dysfunction as a vascular and endocrine symptom
- Diagnose testosterone deficiency appropriately
- Know when to manage in primary care and when to refer on
Session 5 – Monday 5th October 13:00 - 14:00
Urgent care and mental health: don’t-miss diagnoses
Learning Objectives:
- Recognise urological and genital emergencies
- Respond to self-harm and suicide risk safely
- Feel confident discussing perinatal mental health in men
- Know who and where to refer to
- Demonstrate effective safety-netting in these situations
