Funding for Fundamentals of GP Nursing Course

January Cohort - Now Recruiting

Expressions of interest are now open for General Practice Nurses (GPNs) wishing to undertake the Fundamentals of GP Nursing Course. (This course Includes Cytology).

NHSE have offered funding for 16 placements across

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Primary Care Providers.

UPDATE- This now also includes Nursing Associates.

Applicants must ensure:

  • They meet the entry requirements of Birmingham City University for details visit: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/nursing-and-midwifery/courses/fundamentals-of-general-practice-2023-24
  • They are able to commit to the duration of the programme
  • They have the support of their employing organisation
  • Their employing organisation is able and willing to offer the required mentorship/experience/supervision/study day release (there is no backfill funding, funding is for the course only).

The HEI is Birmingham City University. Other providers are not approved as part of this year’s funding.

Should applications received, exceed places available, an interview process alongside an equitable PCN allocation system will be applied.

There are no restrictions to applicants applying for this funding stream. The course is though designed for those GPNs new to general practice.
