Health Education England (HEE) Funding


Fundamentals of GP Nursing Course September 2021 Cohort

Expressions of interest are now open for General Practice Nurses (GPNs) wishing to undertake the Fundamentals of GP Nursing Course. (This course Includes Cytology).

HEE have offered funding for 17 placements across
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Primary Care Providers.

Applicants must ensure:
  • They meet the entry requirements of Birmingham City University for details visit:
  • They are able to commit to the duration of the programme
  • They have the support of their employing organisation
  • Their employing organisation is able and willing to offer the required mentorship/experience/supervision/study day release (there is no backfill funding, funding is for the course only).

The HEI is Birmingham City University. Other providers are not approved as part of this year’s funding.

Should applications received, exceed places available, an interview process alongside an equitable PCN allocation system will be applied.

There are no restrictions to applicants applying for this funding stream. Whilst this course is designed for those new to general practice nursing, it is also suitable for more experienced GPNs to enable them to top up from diploma to degree level. The experienced GPNs may be able to APEL some of the course content but this would be on an individual basis and in agreement with the University.
